Lack of ethics

Williams v. Vidmar

The ADF's hyperbole

  • In November 2004 the ADF sponsored a lawsuit of a Cupertino, California elementary school teacher against his school principal and school board members (Williams v. Vidmar). The day before Thanksgiving, the ADF issued a press release entitled "Declaration of Independence Banned from Classroom", this title caused a degree of controversy (1), however the ADF later affirmed that nothing was ever banned (2).

School unable to respond to charges

  • Because the school was on holiday, and whether it was intentional or not, the school was unable to respond to the charges made by the ADF for several days (2).

School forced to hire extra security

  • Because the school and principal faced threats, the parents of the children told the school to hire more security (3).

No corrections

  • Even though the suit has been settled, and even though the ADF declared that nothing was ever banned, their website still says "Declaration of Independence Banned from Classroom" (4).

Parents Organization for the School blasts the ADF for their deception

  • "The ADF is morally obligated to be proactive when issuing a correction of the record and they must give it the same wide publicity to ensure the same coverage given the original, factually inaccurate and devastating press release. Otherwise, they’re just paying lip service to their claim of concern for the safety of our children." (5)

Edits Wikipedia

  • The ADF has been found that it edits Wikipedia (6).
  • It has even got a notice telling it to stop vandalizing the Wiki (7).
