Ben Domenech
- In 2006, Regnery editor Ben Domenech resigned under pressure for repeated plagiarism. Domenech was accused of appropriating a chapter from P.J. O'Rourke's 1990 book "Modern Manners" for an editorial in The Flat Hat, a weekly student newspaper at William and Mary. O'Rourke denied Domenech's claim that the author had been granted permission to use his words, adding that he couldn't recall ever meeting the college student. (1)
Politically Incorrect or just Factually Incorrect Guides
- Regnery publishes 'politically incorrect guides' or P.I.G., some of these books have been accused of not being politically incorrect, but instead factually incorrect.
The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (And the Crusades)
- Tom Palmer of the Cato Institute calls this book, written by Robert Spencer, wrong and also a recruiting tool for radical Muslims.
- "Spencer’s book has one and only one effect. It doesn’t illuminate. It doesn’t explain. But it does enthusiastically endorse the interpretation of Islam offered by al-Qaeda. Robert Spencer is a one-man recruiting machine for Radical Political Islam." (2)
The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History
- Historian David Greenburg says that the book is written to conform to a right-wing position. He rejects the claims that the assumptions made by Woods, such as his representation of European explorations as being by people who had the same language and religion, are conservative. (3)
The Politically Incorrect Guide to Darwinism and Intelligent Design
- The Panda's Thumb reviewed the book, giving a synopsis that says "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Darwinism and Intelligent Design, is not only politically incorrect but incorrect in most other ways as well: scientifically, logically, historically, legally, academically, and morally." (4)
The Politically Incorrect Guide to Science
- Chris Mooney, in a review of the book for Skeptical Inquirer magazine, wrote this:
- Rather hilariously, if you look closely at the book's cover image on Amazon.com you will see the tagline "Liberals have hijacked science for long enough. Now it's our turn." "Our turn" to "hijack science," presumably. (5)
